Greater Hartford is filled with foundations, companies and individuals dedicated to helping those in need, whether through raising funds for medical research, collecting and distributing clothes for the needy, addressing hunger and nutrition through improved access to healthy food, or creating opportunities for better education. While cash donations are one way to help, there are a wide variety of fun and fulfilling events that let you lend a hand while having a good time in the process. From golf to whiffle ball, car shows to camp-outs, dinners to dog walks, plus a wealth of walks, races and rides, Hartford Magazine , in cooperation with sponsor Comcast, presents a guide to the top charity events from July through the end of the year.
Center for Cancer Care’s Patient Assistance Fund 12, 30, 55, 75 and 100-mile bike routes, 2.4, 4.2 and 6-mile walking routes. Registration and start times vary. $40 per person; $15 per child; $60 for families of five or less. Registration fees are waived if more than $100 is raised per participant.

Every March, American Cancer Society staff and volunteers around the country welcome spring with millions of dewy-fresh yellow daffodils from Washington State. Daffodil Days is a signature event of the American Cancer Society and daffodils are the Flower of Hope for cancer patients and their families.
This event brings together nearly 1,500 diverse and successful women from the Greater Harford area for the largest networking luncheon in the state. Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Blvd., Hartford. 11 a.m. $150. 860- 525-1163, deniceg@ywcahartford.
